Leadership Lessons from Bhagvad Gita - Change Management.

Leadership Lessons from Bhagvad Gita - Change Management.

“Pandavas Felt the need for Change – Wanted to create a better society or system”

A successfully managed “Change Management” can lead a company to success. Change management is required for :

  1.      Dynamically change Business environment with Technology, Economies & customer   expectations.
  2.      Growing business in various diverse domains.
  3.      facing global factors, forces & achieve Adaptability to Strategic, Tactical & Operational changes.

“Pandavas(Arjuna) Get Disoriented in Kurushetra As soon as process for change(War) is about to Start .
A requirement (Need) to come out of comfort zone – Pain & anxiety for future ”

The three important aspects we need to deal while dealing with changes are:
People, Process and Technology. Process change & Technology change are very much measurable & widely researched. The challenges with Process and technology are relatively familiar and we know how system behave or act. As we are aware of the downside & its probability we can actually create some backup system.

The third aspect People are really difficult to handle and it’s tricky. The emotions & habit of weighing things (Pros & Cons) continuously play a wide role in people Change Management. It keeps making people disoriented, feared & avert to changes. Even if people first thought of accepting change and began their journey for change, Winds of challenges keep on playing with their hopes and fear.

"Here Comes a Leader like Krishna - A Orientation Program (Bhagvad Gita)."

What Krishna exactly said?
  • Surrender every karma to Me (As in God) : Here Krishna is taking Ownership of the changes.  Alleviate fear of failure.
Leader should take Ownership of Failure & Success.
  • Soul is beyond destruction. It will be there even if you participate in war or not: Here Krishna is suggesting that change is bound to happen and it’s a continuous Process. Even if people don’t want to change, Business forces & continuously evolving market will force the change in future and then it will be a do or die situation.
Leader should suggest for embracing the change as an inevitable process. Welcome it soon   rather then doing fire fighting later.
  •  Doing your karma without thinking of results: Here Krishna is suggesting bringing Focus in your job. Fear of failure & anxiety for success is an obstruction in focus.
Leader should suggest for Focus in your job, which eventually will produce Quality work.
  •  Telling the yoga: Krishna suggest for Karma yoga – Excellence in your work & Doing it with perfection.
Leader should motivate the Team member to reach Excellence.
  •  Showing the path to be unaffected & becoming Wiser like “Muni” :  Krishna suggested keeping the calm & remaining unattached with things simultaneously.
Leader should inspire leadership qualities in other. Keeping the Calm, Detailed & profound thinking. Out of the box thinking without clinging to any particular solution.
  •  Showing the ViraatSwaroop (The real self of God) : Krishna showed the hidden Real God to Arjuna to cement the trust of Arjuna.
Leader should share the Vision,Plan & intentions for change with Honesty & Transparency.  Trust toward a leader will be a great force in the process of Change Management.

“Krishna guiding the Pandavas (Arjuna in chariot) from the front – Solving the War Challenges and getting war resources & Additional soldiers in Mahabharata”

A leader needs to guide the team continuously. He should be a problem Solver & should be able to come up with ideas. He should be able to mobilize resources and bring the right resources to pool.
